Tortoisesvn icons not updating

There are a number of ways to achieve this according to Tortoise SVN FAQ. Windows overlay icon update consumes a lot of resources, and having the faster machine or giving higher priority to Tortoise SVN will have positive impact on overlay update. Selecting a folder or a file, and hitting F5 key one or more times may correct overlay display but this does not work all the time. You may also drilling up and down the folder, and it will cause the Windows Explorer to update the icon overlays. This has higher chance of getting your overlays updated than hitting F5 key. If everything fails, you may want to select a folder or a file and execute the Tortoise SVN "Cleanup" command. The Drop Box overlays start with a double quote which, by a happy coincidence (or perhaps not), bumps them up the list.Even Tortoise SVN may be guilty of doing this as their keys are prefixed with numbers.

The installer does this automatically for the "current" user, but if someone else installed Tortoise SVN you may have to do this manually.

It’s free, is regularly updated, works on most versions of Windows and integrates well within the OS.

Tortoise SVN will be one of the first systems developers install after upgrading to Windows 7.

I also have TSVN to exclude * and include c:\development* and only "Fixed Drives" set. I did this because I have a 1TB drive on this monster. so I am pretty sure it isn't just an "be patient" issue.

Also, this is a new machine that I just built a few months ago... BOb From: Erik Hemdal [mailto:erik_at_comprehensivepower.com] Sent: Friday, August 21, 2009 PM To: users_at_tortoisesvn.Subject: RE: Overlays in Win7 64-Bit not updating...
